Excellent Quality Sunglasses in Extra Large Size
August 4, 2010 - After years of wearing sunglasses that were way too small for my face, I was sure that by searching the Internet I could find what I was looking for and I found exactly what I wanted in the Typhoon Optics Harbor Sunglasses in Matte Black Frame and Grey Horizon Polarized Lenses. (See Typhoon Optics website for three different frame/lens color combinations.) It is my hope that I can help other people who are searching for a larger size frame that is wide enough to fit them properly. I have owned many polarized fishing sunglasses because many of these sunglasses are larger for overall eye coverage out on the water. But fishing sunglasses are mostly sport styles not really made for the street or daily wear. I was sure I could find high quality sunglasses for under $150 that would fit me and be more in style to wear when I am out at the beach, sporting event, or just to wear everyday. My search included many manufacturers websites as well as the optical seller sites. I focused on those manufacturers and websites that gave recommendations to size of sunglasses themselves or gave the actual measurements of: frame width, lens width and height, bridge width, temple arm length. Everything I read helped me as I then went to sporting goods stores and physically tried on sunglasses that I had seen on-line with a stated size as Extra Large or had a +70mm width on the lens measurement. I eventually bought four sunglasses but find the Typhoon sunglasses to be the best fit overall due to being a true Extra Large Size while the others are more Large Size Sunglasses (some of these are listed as One Size Fits All or Extra Large). The Harbor Sunglasses are very large in both frame width and lens size. They are 5 1/2 inches straight across from arm hinge to arm hinge. With a 6 1/2 inch curved width measuring across the front of the sunglasses. Frame height is 1 3/4 inches at the lens area. Specific measurements are as follows: 75mm lens width, 40 mm lens height, 15mm bridge width, 120mm temple arm length. (75/40/15/120). Again this would be for those people with a large wide face. For example, you find that when trying on other name brand sunglasses, most look ridiculously small in frame width or in lens size and the temple arms squeeze your head causing pain over time. Harbor Sunglasses will feel comfortable and you will think they were custom made just for you. Ordered the Matte Black from Amazon on July 22, 2010, but Amazon no longer has this item in stock in black and it cannot be found on their website (but the Brown Lens with Demi Frame color is available as of August 3, 2010). I presume if an item doesn't sell well it is not ordered again. Do order from Amazon if it is available to increase their product offering of larger sunglasses. I will be ordering another Typhoon Harbor Sunglass in the different color/lens combinations directly from Typhoon Optics as there are few website sellers that offer this product.
